All children learn things in the following six areas. These areas, as set out by the government, help to form our curriculum which is called the Foundation Stage.
1. Personal and Social Development

- How to put your own coat on/use the toilet

- To know what is 'right' and what is 'wrong'

2. Language and Literacy
- To enjoy stories and books
- To learn English
- To speak to adults and children

3. Mathmatical Development
- Learning to count
- Learning names of numbers and shapes
- Being able to sort, match and make patterns
- Learning about size and measuring
4. Physical Development
- Getting excercise and using outdoor equipment
- Learning how to use tools and scissors
- Being able to thread and sew
5. Creative Development
- Art and craft activities - painting, glueing, making models
- Music and dancing
- Imaginative play such as dressing up and shop play
6. Knowledge and Understanding of the World
- Science activites - finding out about materials - investigation
- Learning about people, places and living things
- Learning how to use the computer
