Alexandra Nursery School is a local education authority school. The local authority pay for the staff and the buildings. We also have daycare for children aged 0-5 years on two sites.

Every child who is 3 or 4 years old is entitled to a free 2.5 hour session each day (paid for by the government). The children in this school come from a variety of cultural backgrounds and religions.

The over three’s daycare centre is part of Alexandra Nursery School on Willows Lane . We work to the same principles and philosophies as the education part of the school– every child is a unique individual.

We can provide for your child:

∙ High quality Nursery education and care funded by the government. Each child has twelve and a half hours of free nursery education each week. If you pay for daycare then this is taken off your fees.

∙ Daycare from 8am until 6 pm - -Children who stay at school after four o'clock are taken to our under three’s centre on Blackledge street for their tea and quiet activities.

You need to arrange to pick them up from there if they stay after 4 o’clock. You will be given a daily record sheet at the end of the day if your child goes to the children’s centre building. This tells you what your child has had to eat, how long they have been asleep and other information from the key adult.

∙ Holiday provision – we are OFSTED registered for children aged from 3 to 10 years during the school holidays

Children in our under three’s centre will automatically move into the over three's daycare in the nursery school building after their 3rd birthday – you will be given a letter telling you when your child will move into the school building. They will be brought to visit by staff form the under three’s – you will be told when these visits are.

The school had an excellent education OFSTED report in October 2005 and a good daycare Ofsted in 2007
