Information for Parents

The physical room in the under threes centre is now used for physical development and music

It is important that young children get exercise everyday to help them develop strong bones and muscles.

Everyday we provide a range of activities in the physical room as well as in the garden.

We provide:-

Obstacle courses for balancing and climbing– balancing is a really important skill that children need to develop . It will help them to be good at reading and writing when they are older. We have beams and benches for balancing , wobble boards, stilts etc.
Children need to be able to climb steps putting one foot in front of the other– we provide these activities with our climbing frames inside and out

We also use this room for music and dancing . Everyday there is a different activity to help children’s movement. Dancing with ribbons and scarves, moving in time to music, following actions. We play ring games such as “Farmers in his Den” which help children to listen and follow instructions as well as work together.

We have music cd’s and videos

We also use a parachute to develop co-operation skills

We have games such as skittles to help develop coordination and balance.

Everyday there are activities that children can use independently as well as an adult structured activity.
